100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Blush in Strawberry

I was recently given the opportunity to try a product from Charleston Naturally, an online high end natural cosmetics retailer based in Charleston, South Carolina. I jumped at the chance to try a blush from 100% Pure. I was already impressed with the ingredients and performance of the brand's pressed eyeshadows, so I had high expectations for their pressed blush.

And once again, they delivered. No matter how used to loose products I get, I can't deny how nice it is to use a pressed one. They are so convenient, way less messy and it is so much easier to get just the right amount of product on your brush. The formula is super smooth and soft, and the color is gorgeous too. It looks pretty bright, but on the cheeks it gives that really nice, natural looking flush. I even swipe a tiny bit around my hairline and forehead to give my face some color. The shade is a slightly cool pink. It can look very bright or subdued and natural, depending on how heavily it is applied. It would work on many skin tones.
I have discussed in other posts how natural pressed products almost always have a high end price tag, and at $25, this blush is no exception. Unfortunately, you kind of have to accept higher price point for pressed products if you want truly natural ingredients. This is one of the few brands that makes pressed powders without "cones" (silicone, dimethicone, etc.). On top of that, it doesn't even contain titanium dioxide or iron oxides. In place, the color comes from organic fruit pigments. The only inorganic (as in not from a biological origin) ingredient is mica. So it really is worth it considering the super natural ingredients and pretty metal mirrored packaging. I hope to snag more of their pressed products, like the matching highlighting powder in the future!

Ingredients: Fruit Pigments of Organic Blackberry, Organic Pomegrante, Organic Cranberry, Organic Raspberry, Organic Strawberry, and Organic Cherry, Organic Rice Starch, Organic Rosehip Oil, Organic Avocado Butter, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Flax seed Oil, Goji Berry Extract, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Mica.

Where to buy: $25 at charlestonnaturally.com ($20 with 20% coupon CN20). The 20% off coupon is a great way to get products from 100% Pure, Dr. Hauschka, Suki, Intelligent Nutrients and more at a discount!

Disclosure: Product was sent to me as a PR sample. Opinions are my own and I am not being compensated in any way.

  2. 100% Pure is one of my favorite natural brands..but I avoid the obes with japanese honeysuckle. I have their pink champagne highlight powder, and love the lip and cheek tints, but have been really wanting to try the pressed blushes. I might have to get this one and try it now!

    1. Yeah the two issues I have with 100% Pure products are the Japanese Honeysuckle Extract, and also Vitamin A is in some of their cosmetics also. I try to avoid both, and luckily their blushes don't have either. I think one of their bronzer shades and a couple of the eyeshadow shades have Vitamin A, and the cream based products are the ones with Japanese Honeysuckle Extract.

  3. Hi Mary, this blush looks lovely! How long does it last on your cheeks?

    1. Hey Lilly! Honestly I've never seen much of a difference between how long powdered blushes last on my face. It lasts the good part of the day on me, like most blushes do. If I really want any to last longer, I put a cream blush down first, followed by powder.

  4. What a pretty, versatile shade. I can see it being flattering on many people. I do wish natural products weren't generally more expensive, as it makes them inaccessible to many

    1. I know, that is the gripe I always have with high end natural products. I am aware that anyone who has enough to spend $20 on a blush is very lucky.

  6. What a pretty pink! I don't mind loose eye shadows, but I really do prefer pressed blush/bronzer.

Is it scented? Some of 100% Pure's stuff smells a bit strong for me.

    1. After using minerals so much I can't get over how convenient it is! I don't think this has a scent at all.

  7. This looks like a beautiful colour, this brand is hard to find in UK also I didn't realise not all their products contained Japanese honeysuckle

    1. I think only their liquid and cream products do, this one doesn't have one. I feel like I have seen 100% Pure on a UK based website but I can't remember which one...

  9. I have always eyed on 100% pure makeup products. I agree with you pressed make-up is just so much more convenient and less powder flying all over the place. I think the only thing that is kind of stopping me is the price for shipping. Hopefully I can find a website that carries their make-up without the pricey shipping rate.

    1. Hmmm... I don't really know of many canadian online retailers. Maybe 100% Pure has a list somewhere. I hear you though, I hate paying for shipping.

  10. This was exactly the same blush featured in a makeup class I attended about 3 months ago. I didn't get it though because I prefer cream blushes. :)

Mary, do you know of any good naturally formulated pressed eyeshadows (except for Jane Iredale -- discovered recently that I can't use JI eye products as they trigger my eyelid eczema :< ).Would appreciate any recommendations :)

    1. There are very few good pressed products out there!

Which Jane Iredale eyeshadow did you use? The EyeSteppes sets are the only ones they make without dimethicone, so maybe that would work.

Other than that, the ones I can think of are 100% Pure (except the one or two with Vitamin A) and Ecco Bella (Haven't tried, but good ingredients).

The purest option is really to press your eyeshadows yourself with fractionated coconut oil. I am still working out the method of this myself, but here's a video on it:
