Above all else in the land of natural skincare, I love a good balm. At present I have 14 posts dedicated solely to the subject. They're more moisturizing and versatile than lotions, more portable than oils, and just more fun, don't you think? My newest balm is Fable Naturals Lemon and Lavender Body Balm ($9.99 CAD).
This versatile body balm has an unexpected combo of lemon and lavender. Both are two common scents used in natural products, but I've never seen them together. And now I'm wondering why not, because I freaking love it. I can easily get tired of too much lavender, but balanced with sweet lemon its perfect; very reminiscent of lavender flavored desserts.
This balm combines a moisturizing mix of organic coconut oil, beeswax, sunflower seed oils, plus fair trade certified olive oil from Palestine and fair trade certified cocoa butter from Peru. The result is a deeply hydrating salve that can be used everywhere. Dab little bit on dry lips here, a little on cracked heels there, maybe on dry hands, or rub a small amount between your hands and pat as an all over moisturizer. The texture is a little hard at first, but once you sort of break it in a bit, it gets nice and soft, as you can see in the picture. Also, how neat is the packaging? You might have heard me moan about the ubiquitous use of Papyrus for natural products, but I love the skinny, elongated san-serif font they use.
Too much font nerd speak? I'll get back to the point. This has great ingredients, a great cause, and smells good enough to eat. Now I'm off to pin some recipes because I'm thinking about lavender lemon desserts.
